Our journey began in earnest when one of our elders who was in high school asked the other members of the session to consider joining the More Light Network. The discussion led to an affirmation that we should consider moving forward with the idea. We invited a guest pastor who offered three workshops entitled, “Queerfully and Wonderfully Made”. These were well attended and provided good opportunities for learning. Shortly thereafter, COVID 19 hit and most of our projects were delayed. Over the summer of 2020 the session members each received a copy of the materials provided by the Network and they took the summer for independent study. The inability to gather due to Covid slowed our process until the fall of 2021. At this point we were again meeting in person for those who were comfortable doing so, and by zoom for the rest. The session put this on the August agenda for discussion. A vote was not anticipated until September but after the August discussion the session acted unanimously to participate in the network with the intention that we let the congregation know in September. Two adult education classes are scheduled for October to offer additional education about ways we can continue to live into this understanding of our faith. While we have been a fairly open congregation, we felt it important to claim this in a more public way which was the main impetus for joining the More Light Network.
