In 2019, our church was the largest group to participate in the Asheville Pride Festival and a few months later we hosted the ordination of a child of our church, and director of More Light, Alex McNeill. This series of events helped us realize that we had been an LGBTQIA affirming church for a very long time. Our Session voted in September 2020 to become a More Light congregation. We feel that becoming a More Light congregation will help to strengthen our congregation as we live into our commitment to deeper relationships within our church as well as our local community.
