MLP is here to bring you personal commentary, inspiring news and social action that helps transform the church and society into a welcoming place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people. In January, 2014 we are launching an Editorial Board, a team consisting of key staff/board members and a volunteer advisory team that will assist us with movement listening, blog content development, and promotion.
As an Editorial Board volunteer, you will have the opportunity to bring your ideas and observations from the world-at-large to the center of MLP’s communications efforts. You will have the satisfaction of seeing your writing in print and distributed over our social media channels and far beyond. You will engage with a passionate and intelligent community of fellow writer-activists. If you are interested in adding to your professional credentials, you may list your position on your resume and use MLP as a reference.
Volunteers selected to the Editorial Board will receive training from Fenton, a social change communications agency that uses the power of stories, media and technology to make the world a better place. Since 1982, they have contributed to some of the defining change movements of our time, from ending apartheid and curbing global warming to protecting people from harmful toxins, and even helped MLP at GA and with our 10A ratification efforts!
Editorial Board volunteers are asked to serve for 6 months, meet for a conference call once a month and provide 2-3 additional hours of content and promotion work. The time commitment for this volunteer position is roughly 5 hours per month.
You are invited to apply for this new volunteer position. Please contact us if you have any questions (antony@mlp.org or annanda@mlp.org). MLP will take applications until January 10, 2014. After applications close, members of the MLP communications committee will interview select applicants and make a final decision by mid-January.
