We are so grateful to be sending this report to share the exciting work More Light Presbyterians took on in 2019!
Looking back at that time, just a few months ago, when traveling to be with others was a central part of our ministry, we are feeling especially blessed to share this recap of that activity, even as we are learning how to be fully present with all of our beloved communities while we stay physically apart. Thank you for your commitment to the work of inclusion and abundance. In this report, you’ll see where we traveled; learn about our programs, and hear about some of the impact we have made together over the past year.
We are delighted to be able to say that 2019 was the year in which we achieved two more historic milestones on behalf of our LGBTQIA+ community. In recognition of the significance of the work of More Light Presbyterians as a ministry integral to the life of the Church, two staff members of MLP were ordained into their positions, which were validated as ministries of the Presbyterian Church (USA). As the first openly non-binary person and the first openly transgender man ordained in the PC(USA), Rev. Jess Cook and myself embody a new present and a promising future of greater inclusion and equity in our denomination, and a deeper commitment to the work of More Light Presbyterians as a calling to serve God’s people.
Thank you for making this work possible and for being on the journey with us.
Rev. Alex McNeill
